MIE-SPPU Institute of Higher Education is an institution licensed by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar and has partnered with Savitribai Phule Pune University to offer world classes education in Qatar.
Our History
Savitribai Phule Pune University, one of the premier universities in India, is positioned in the North-western part of Pune city. It occupies an area of about 411 acres. It was established on 10th February 1949 under the Poona University Act. The university houses 46 academic departments. It is popularly known as the ‘Oxford of the East’. It has about 307 recognized research institutes and 612 affiliated colleges offering graduate and undergraduate courses.

Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh
Professor Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh is a distinguished educationist, researcher, social entrepreneur, and academic leader with over 37 years of experience in teaching, research, and administration.
He currently serves as Director – Academics at MIE-SPPU Institute of Higher Education, Doha, Qatar. He has made significant contributions to higher education, academic leadership, quality assurance, research, and youth development.
A recognized Ph.D. research guide, he has successfully guided 35 Ph.D. scholars and 16 M.Phil. scholars. He has also mentored hundreds of postgraduate students through their master's research projects.
An award-winning academician, Professor Shaikh is committed to academic excellence and innovation. He has actively promoted entrepreneurship, skill development, and research-driven education. His leadership has helped create opportunities for students and young professionals to develop their potential. He strongly advocates innovation, employability, and future-ready education.
His extensive academic experience reflects a deep commitment to institutional growth and quality enhancement. He has contributed to nurturing researchers, educators, entrepreneurs, and responsible global citizens.
His work demonstrates a strong blend of academic excellence, social responsibility, and visionary leadership. With a global outlook and passion for education, he continues to inspire students, scholars, and institutions worldwide.
